Getting started
Inbill is free invoice software for freelancers and small studios. It includes an AI assistant that drafts invoices from plain English, 47-currency support, seven PDF templates (Minimalist, Modern, Corporate, Classic, plus three Pro templates: POS receipt, clinic receipt, boutique editorial), partial-payment tracking, recurring invoice scheduling, and a hosted public invoice link your client can open without signing in.
Under three minutes. Sign in, fill in your company details once (logo, address, tax ID, payment instructions), add a client, then hit "Create invoice" and the AI assistant can draft the line items from a sentence. Download the PDF, email it via the built-in sender, or copy the public link.
No — you can create invoices unauthenticated and they live in your browser's local storage. To save them across devices, sync to multiple machines, send by email, or use the AI assistant, you sign up for free. No card required, no trial expiration.
Yes. Inbill is genuinely free for 5 invoices per calendar month, every month, no card required. Past the limit you can either watch a 30-second ad on Android to send another, or upgrade to Pro at $5/month. No per-client fees, no template lock-ins, no "talk to sales".
AI features
Yes. Inbill has a voice-first AI Assistant — tap the mic, speak in your own language, and it drafts the invoice. You can also type. Try "invoice Acme for five hours of design at one thousand rupees an hour and send a copy" and review the proposed action card. Nothing reaches your data until you tap Apply.
Yes. Voice input recognises Urdu, Hindi, Arabic, English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, and more. Detection follows the language you use the app in, with a per-device override in the Assistant settings if you want to dictate in one language while the app is in another. Some non-English transcriptions show a "review before sending" hint because accuracy varies by accent.
Yes. The assistant generates multiple line items, applies per-line tax rates, picks the right currency, schedules recurring invoices, records payments, and answers analytics questions about your own data ("which clients owe me money this month?"). You can also edit the proposed values inline on the action card before tapping Apply.
No. AI requests go from your browser to Inbill's server, then to a frontier-grade model provider, then back. Inbill logs the request type, length, and success for usage analytics — never the prompt content or the response. The provider does not train on API traffic, and your data is not shared with any third party beyond what's required to fulfill the request.
It only helps with your invoicing — clients, products, services, invoices, scheduling, sending, and analytics on your own data. It will refuse general chat, weather, jokes, code help, or anything outside this scope. It cannot see other users' data. It cannot delete more than one record at a time. Send and delete actions ask for an extra 5-second confirmation before they commit.
Sending and getting paid
Four ways. (1) Tap "WhatsApp" — the most popular channel for B2B in PK/IN/SEA. (2) Email via your verified sender. (3) SMS or Telegram with one tap. (4) Copy the public link and paste it anywhere. Your client opens the link in any browser, no login needed, sees a clean invoice page with bank/Wise/Payoneer info inline and a "Copy" button on each field.
"Mark as paid" sets the invoice fully paid in one click. "Record payment" handles partial payments — record any amount, and the balance due updates automatically. Status flips to "partial" or "paid" based on the math, not on a manual flag, so the dashboard always reflects reality.
No. You keep 100% of what your clients pay you. Inbill doesn't process payments — it generates the invoice and the payment instructions on the PDF go directly to your bank, Wise, Payoneer, JazzCash, or whatever channel you use. We don't see the money, take a fee, or sit between you and your client.
Not directly — but we make it as close as possible. The hosted invoice page renders structured Wise, Payoneer, bank-transfer, or custom payment-method cards with a "Copy" button on every field (email, IBAN, account number, etc.). Your client taps to copy, then opens their own banking or Wise app to send. A native "Pay this invoice" button is on the roadmap once we add a payment gateway that works for accounts in Pakistan.
Yes. In Settings → Payment methods you add Wise (email + recipient name), Payoneer (email + recipient name), bank transfer (account name, bank, account number, IBAN, SWIFT, routing), or any custom method. Every new invoice snapshots those methods at create time, so old invoices keep showing the details they were issued with even if you later rotate an email or change banks.
Yes. Set a schedule (weekly, monthly, or any RRULE pattern), pick a template invoice, and Inbill generates the next invoice automatically. The cron runs hourly. Optionally auto-emails the new invoice to the client. The schedule auto-ends after a fixed count or end-date if you set one. Recurring is a Pro feature.
Yes. A daily cron sweeps invoices, sends one reminder per invoice per 7-day cooldown when an upcoming or past-due email is appropriate, and respects per-user toggles for "email reminders" and "overdue alerts" in Settings → Notifications. Reminders go out via Resend with your verified sender.
Templates and customisation
Seven. Free plan: Minimalist (clean, type-driven), Modern (bold accent band), Corporate (structured, accent color), Classic (conservative, accountant-friendly). Pro plan adds: POS Receipt (80mm thermal), Clinic Receipt (A5 medical), Boutique Editorial (display-first). All seven render from the exact same data model — switching templates never changes the numbers.
You can add your logo, company info, tax ID, payment instructions, terms, and footer notes — they appear on every template. Per-template colour overrides and custom CSS aren't exposed yet. If your brand needs a bespoke template, email and we offer paid custom template work via zaions.com.
Yes. Templates use proper page sizes (A4 for invoices, A5 for clinic, 80mm for POS receipts), embedded fonts, and tabular figures so columns align. The same PDF you download is the one your client sees on the hosted link — no surprise re-rendering.
Currency and tax
Inbill supports 47 currencies including USD, EUR, GBP, AED, SAR, INR, CNY, JPY, KRW, BRL, ZAR, NGN, and PKR. Each invoice can be in a different currency. Currency codes are stored ISO 4217 lowercase (Stripe convention) and money formatting uses Intl.NumberFormat for locale-correct symbols and grouping.
Yes. Set tax rate and tax category (UBL S/Z/E/AE/O codes) per line item. The generated PDF shows a tax breakdown table grouped by category and rate, suitable for EN 16931 / UBL 2.1 alignment. Inbill does not file taxes for you — it produces the document; your accountant or tax registrar handles the rest.
The data model matches UBL 2.1 / EN 16931 conventions — party blocks, tax categories, tax breakdown. Inbill does not yet emit a UBL XML file (PEPPOL, ZUGFeRD, Factur-X) — that's on the roadmap. For B2B EU customers requiring electronic submission, email; we may prioritise this in 2026 based on demand.
Not yet. FBR e-invoicing requires integration with a licensed PRAL integrator and is mandatory only for sales-tax-registered sellers. Inbill currently targets unregistered sellers, freelancers, and global users. If you're a registered Pakistani business and need FBR connectivity, email — we offer paid custom integration via zaions.com.
Comparisons
Wave is stronger for eligible US and Canadian businesses that need unlimited free invoicing plus bookkeeping. Inbill is built for international freelancers who want AI-assisted drafting, 47 invoice currencies, and specialised PDF formats without a full accounting ledger. Our comparison links to Wave’s current availability and pricing pages.
Zoho Invoice is the stronger fit when your workflow already uses Zoho CRM, Books, Projects, or Mail. Inbill is smaller and invoice-first, with plain-language AI drafting and specialised PDFs. Zoho publishes different allowances by region, so check its local pricing page rather than relying on a universal limit.
Inbill is free for 5 invoices per month without a card, and Pro is $5/month. FreshBooks focuses on a broader paid accounting and time-tracking workflow. Check FreshBooks’ current regional pricing directly because promotional and standard prices change.
Yes — Inbill is the closest free alternative if you want the same invoice-first focus without Invoicely's branded PDF watermark. Invoice Ninja is open-source self-hosted; Inbill is hosted (no DevOps), AI-assisted, and includes specialised templates (POS, clinic) Invoice Ninja doesn't ship.
Data and security
Supabase (Postgres) hosted in the EU region. Your data is scoped to your user via row-level security policies enforced at the database layer, not just the app. Authentication uses Supabase Auth with JWT-based sessions. Inbill is single-tenant per user — you cannot see another user's clients, products, or invoices, full stop.
Yes. Invoices export as PDF individually. For a full SQL dump or CSV export of all clients, products, services, and invoices, email and we'll send it within 48 hours. No lock-in. Bulk in-app CSV export is on the roadmap.
Partially. The frontend (UI, PDF templates) is public on GitHub — you can read every line of how an invoice is rendered. The hosted backend (Supabase + Edge Functions) is private but the migration SQL is in the repo. Source: https://github.com/asadtechlead/inbill.
Mobile and offline
Yes. The web app is fully responsive — designed mobile-first. There's also a native Android app that wraps the web build with native sharing, native file system access, and rewarded video ads for the free tier. iOS app is on the roadmap.
On the Google Play Store at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.inbill — or scan the QR code on the home page. The Android app wraps the same web experience with native sharing, native PDF storage, and rewarded video ads for free-tier users who hit the 5/month limit and want to send another without paying.
Not yet. The Capacitor scaffolding supports iOS — we just haven't completed Apple Developer distribution. Drop your email at the bottom of the home page and we'll notify you the day it ships. Until then, the web app on iOS Safari is fully functional.
Partially. Unauthenticated mode persists invoices to localStorage and works offline. Authenticated mode needs an internet connection to sync to Supabase — so PDFs generate offline but new invoices won't save until you reconnect. A full PWA-with-offline-sync mode is on the roadmap.
