How to invoice a client abroad and get paid via Payoneer or Wise (from Pakistan)
A step-by-step way to bill a US, UK or Gulf client from Pakistan: agree the currency, put Payoneer or Wise details on the invoice, add a pay link, send it, and record the money — with what each service allows in 2026.
Short answer: agree the currency in writing, send an invoice in that currency with a number, due date and clear line items, and put on it only the payment route you can actually receive through. From Pakistan that is usually a Payoneer payment request or your bank's foreign-currency account, because Wise will not issue USD account details to a Pakistani address. Then record each payment as it lands.
Before you invoice: settle three things with the client
Cross-border invoices go wrong before they are written. Settle three things in the contract or the first email: the currency (USD, GBP, EUR or AED — not "dollars-ish"), the payment terms (Net 15 or Net 30 from the invoice date), and how the client will pay. A US client's accounts team may only pay by card or ACH; a Gulf client may prefer a bank transfer. Asking now saves a week of back-and-forth later.
Also agree who absorbs transfer fees. Payoneer's own payment-request page says the payer can choose who pays the fee before completing the payment, and suggests discussing it with the client in advance. If you say nothing, assume the fee comes out of your side.
Payoneer or Wise: which can you actually use from Pakistan?
For most Pakistan-based freelancers, Payoneer is the practical rail and Wise is limited. Wise's help centre lists Pakistan among the addresses that cannot get USD account details, and Wise says you need active account details in a currency before you can request money in it from someone without a Wise account. So "send me money on Wise" usually only works when your Wise profile has an address elsewhere.
| Payoneer payment request | Wise payment request | |
|---|---|---|
| Available to a Pakistan address | Yes, after identity and business verification | USD account details: no, per Wise's help centre |
| What the client receives | An email with the amount and a "Pay Now" option; you can also copy a direct payment link | A link (or a request inside Wise if they use Wise) |
| How the client pays | Card, ACH bank debit (US), bank transfer and other methods, by country | Bank transfer to your account details |
| Receiving fees (Payoneer's 2026 price list) | Card up to 3.99% + $0.49; ACH 1%; Payoneer-to-Payoneer free | Varies by currency and plan |
| Attach the invoice | Yes, up to 5 documents | Not described in the request flow |
| How long it stays open | You set a due date; Payoneer sends automatic reminders | 30 calendar days |
Payoneer's fees then continue on the way out: its price list shows withdrawals of 1.2% to 4% depending on currency and conversion, and a $29.95 annual fee if the account receives less than $6,000 in 12 months. Payoneer also says your own applicable fees are the ones shown in your account, so check there before you quote a client a fee split.
A third route is your own bank. The State Bank of Pakistan's freelancer account framework provides for a PKR account alongside an exporters' foreign-currency account at authorised banks. Ask your bank for the exact receiving details (IBAN, SWIFT, any intermediary bank) and put those on the invoice instead of, or as well as, Payoneer.
What the invoice itself needs
An invoice to a foreign client needs the same core fields as any invoice, plus the details an accounts team abroad uses to approve and pay it. Keep the amount in the agreed currency; do not convert a USD price into PKR on the document.
- Your legal or trading name, address and email — matching the name on your Payoneer or bank account.
- The client's company name, address and country, and a contact or purchase-order number if they gave you one.
- A unique, sequential invoice number, the issue date and the due date.
- Line items a stranger in their finance team can understand ("Website redesign — milestone 2 of 3").
- The total in one currency, and who pays transfer fees if you agreed it.
- One clear way to pay: a payment link, or a single set of receiving details.
The full field-by-field checklist is in how to create an invoice.
Add a pay link the client can tap
A link beats a block of account numbers: the client taps, sees the amount, and pays with a method their country supports. With Payoneer, create the request under Receive → Request a Payment, attach your invoice PDF, preview it, send it, and then copy its direct payment link from Activity → Payment Requests Sent.
In Inbill, paste that link once in Settings → Payment methods → Payoneer ("Request-a-payment link"). Every new invoice then shows a Pay with Payoneer button on the page your client opens. If you have a Wise pay link (for example because your Wise address is outside Pakistan), the same field on the Wise method adds a Pay with Wise button. Bank, JazzCash, Easypaisa and Raast details appear with copy buttons instead.
One caution: a Payoneer request is created for a specific amount and due date. Open your copied link before you reuse it. If it shows a fixed amount, update the link in Settings before you create the next invoice — invoices keep the payment details they were created with.
Send it where the client will see it
Email is the default for a company's accounts team; WhatsApp is often faster for a founder or a small agency. Whichever you use, send a link to the invoice rather than only a PDF attachment, so the client always sees the current balance. In Inbill, Send → WhatsApp opens a chat with the amount, due date and link already typed; Send → Email delivers the same link from the app. The step-by-step version is in how to send an invoice on WhatsApp.
After the money moves: confirm and record it
"I've sent it" is not "it has arrived". Payoneer shows the request's status in your account; a bank transfer can take days and may arrive short after intermediary fees. Record what actually landed, on the date it landed.
On the Inbill invoice page your client can tap I've paid and say how and when. The invoice then shows "Payment reported" until you confirm it — nothing is marked paid on the client's word alone. If $950 arrives against a $1,000 invoice, record $950: the invoice stays partly paid and the client's ledger shows the $50 balance, kept separate from any PKR invoices.
If the due date passes
Chase on a schedule. A short reminder a few days before the due date, a clear one on the day, and a firm final notice after it gets most invoices paid without a hard conversation. Inbill sends this ladder by email for you, per invoice, and pauses it while a reported payment waits for your confirmation. Wording you can copy is in payment reminder templates: friendly, firm, final.
What Inbill does not do
Inbill records payment instructions and payment status; it does not process payments. The money moves through Payoneer, Wise or your bank, under their fees and rules, and Inbill takes no cut. It is also not FBR e-invoicing software: FBR says only a licensed integrator can connect a registered person's invoicing system to FBR, and Inbill is not one. If you are sales-tax registered, use an FBR-integrated system for those invoices. This guide is workflow information, not tax advice.

Frequently asked
How do I invoice a client in another country from Pakistan?
Agree the currency and payment terms first, then send an invoice in that currency with your name, the client's company details, a unique number, issue and due dates, clear line items and one way to pay — usually a Payoneer payment request or your bank's foreign-currency account details. Record the payment when it lands.
Can I get paid through Wise in Pakistan?
Only in a limited way. Wise's help centre lists Pakistan among the addresses that cannot get USD account details, and Wise requires active account details to request money from someone without a Wise account. Check what your own Wise account shows before putting Wise details on an invoice.
How much does Payoneer charge to receive a payment request?
Payoneer's price list (last updated 1 January 2026) shows up to 3.99% + $0.49 when the client pays by card, 1% for ACH bank debit in the US, and free Payoneer-to-Payoneer payments. Withdrawals cost 1.2%–4%. Fees vary by territory; the ones shown in your account apply.
Does Inbill process client payments?
No. Inbill shows your payment details and "Pay with Payoneer" or "Pay with Wise" buttons that open your own links, and records payments you confirm. The money moves through Payoneer, Wise or your bank, and Inbill takes no cut.
Is Inbill FBR e-invoicing software?
No. Inbill makes commercial invoices and tracks payments; it is not an FBR licensed integrator and does not send invoices to FBR. Sales-tax-registered businesses covered by FBR's e-invoicing rules need an FBR-integrated system.
