Receipt, invoice or bill: which one do you need?
An invoice asks for money; a receipt proves money arrived. Send an invoice before payment, with a due date. Hand over a receipt after payment — cash, card, or transfer — as the customer's proof of purchase. “Bill” is used for both in everyday speech, so ask one question: has the customer paid yet?

Is this receipt generator really free?
Yes. It creates and downloads a PDF receipt with no sign-up, no watermark, and no card. It runs entirely in your browser — nothing you type is uploaded. The 80mm POS layout here is the same one Inbill Pro users print in the app.
What is the difference between a receipt and an invoice?
An invoice requests payment — it lists what is owed and a due date. A receipt confirms payment already happened — it is the customer's proof of purchase. If money has not changed hands yet, you want the invoice generator; after payment, issue a receipt.
Is a bill the same as a receipt?
Not quite. A bill asks for payment, like an invoice; a receipt proves it was paid. At a shop counter the two happen at once, so the slip the customer takes home is often called a bill — it is really a receipt. This page prints it marked PAID with the payment method.
Can I print this on a thermal receipt printer?
The POS Receipt template is laid out for standard 80mm thermal roll paper — the format used by café, salon, and retail counter printers. Download the PDF and print it from any system that drives your printer; the A4 template covers regular desktop printers.
Can I make a receipt for a cash payment?
Yes — that is the most common use. Add the items, choose "Cash" as the payment method, and download. The receipt reads "PAID — Cash", numbered and dated, as your customer's proof of purchase.
Do I need an account?
No. An account is only for the full Inbill app, which keeps a numbered record of every document, tracks payments against invoices, shows each customer's running balance, and drafts documents from a spoken sentence.
