How it works
From the receipt to everyone's share
- Tap Split a bill and enter what it was for and the amount.
- Pick who was there and who paid. You can add new names there.
- Keep equal shares, or tap Change amounts if someone had less.
- Send each friend their link on WhatsApp or any other app.
- Mark each friend paid when the money comes in.
You can also add a date, a note and a photo of the receipt. The photo stays private to you.
What friends see
One private link, with no sign-up
Each friend's link opens their own page: their shares, what they have paid, what is left, and the payment details you have added. If they have paid, they tap I've paid. You get an email, and the app shows what they said, so you can check the money arrived and confirm it.
The page doesn't show receipt photos or anyone's contact details. If friends owe each other from a bill they shared, each one sees who and how much.
By voice or chat
Or just tell the assistant
Type or say "Dinner 120, me Ali Sara Hamza, Sara only 15". The assistant works out the shares and shows them for you to check before anything is saved. If the message could mean two things, it asks you which one you meant. See the voice invoice app for how voice works.
Friends and work
Friend money stays out of your business numbers
Inbill is an invoice and expense app, and split bills sit apart from all of that. Friends aren't clients, and what they owe never appears in your invoices, profit or accountant export.
Want your own share on record? Turn on Add my share to my personal expenses. It stays out of your business profit, as described on the expense tracker page.
Good to know
What it does and doesn't do
- Free: 10 new split bills a month, with a counter on the Friends page.
- Pro ($5 a month): unlimited split bills.
- Money: Inbill keeps the record and never moves money.
- Who keeps track: you do. Friends can see their page and tap "I've paid", but they don't have a shared group they can edit.
- Connection: splitting a bill needs internet.
Questions people ask
How do I split a bill with friends?
In Inbill, tap Split a bill, enter what it was for and the amount, and pick who was there and who paid. Shares start equal, and you can change any amount. Then send each friend the link to their page.
Is this split bill app free?
Yes, for 10 new split bills a month. Editing or deleting a bill doesn't change that count. Pro ($5 a month) removes the limit.
Do my friends need to install the app?
No. Each friend opens a private link in their browser and sees their share, what they have paid and how to pay you. They can tap "I've paid" without an account. They can't add or change bills: you keep track for the group.
Does Inbill send or collect the money?
No. Inbill keeps the record and never moves money. Friends pay you the usual way, by cash, bank transfer or a pay link you have added, and you mark it paid or confirm their "I've paid".
How do I split a bill when someone had less?
Tap Change amounts and enter what that person pays, then share out the rest. For example, on a $120 dinner for 4 where one friend had a $15 salad, the other three pay $35 each. The form tells you when the shares add up to the bill.
What if a friend paid the bill instead of me?
Choose that friend under Who paid. Your share goes on your side of the balance with them, and what the others owe them shows under Friends paying each other. When one friend pays another, you can record that too.
Can I split bills in different currencies?
Yes. Each bill keeps its own currency, and balances stay separate per currency. They are never added together.
