Invoice software for Pakistani freelancers billing international clients
A practical invoicing workflow for Pakistani freelancers: USD and PKR invoices, bank and Payoneer instructions, partial payments, SBP freelancer accounts, Wise restrictions, and when FBR e-invoicing rules matter.
The useful setup is simple: issue the invoice in the currency you agreed with the client, show an unambiguous due date, add the exact bank or Payoneer instructions you can actually receive through, and keep the PDF plus payment record together. Inbill supports 47 invoice currencies, structured bank and Payoneer details, partial-payment tracking, and a hosted link, without assuming that a Pakistani freelancer can open Stripe or every Wise account feature.
The best invoice workflow for a Pakistani freelancer
Agree on the billing currency before work starts. If the contract says USD, make the invoice total USD rather than converting it to PKR on the document. Include your legal or trading name, the client's details, a unique invoice number, issue and due dates, clear line items, the total, and payment instructions. After money arrives, record the amount and date separately so a partial transfer is not mistaken for a settled invoice.
A professional invoice is not the payment rail. The invoice explains what is owed; your bank, Payoneer, or another service moves the money. Keeping those roles separate lets you change a receiving account without rebuilding your client and invoice history.
Should the invoice be in USD or PKR?
Invoice in the currency stated in the client agreement. USD, GBP, EUR, AED, and PKR are all reasonable when both parties have agreed. Do not silently convert a fixed USD project into PKR at an arbitrary rate. If the client needs a reference conversion, add it as a note and identify the rate date; keep the actual amount due in one clear currency.
Bank, Payoneer, and Wise: write only what is available to you
Inbill can display bank-transfer and Payoneer instructions on the invoice. Payoneer's official Request a Payment flow also lets eligible users enter the amount, currency, due date, and description, attach an invoice, and send a payment link. Availability, verification, payer methods, and fees depend on the account, so confirm the options shown in your own dashboard.
Be especially careful with generic advice about Wise. Wise's current help page lists Pakistan among addresses that cannot obtain USD account details. That does not mean a client can never send money to Pakistan through Wise; it means you should not promise clients “my Wise USD details” unless those details are actually active in your account. Put the receiving instructions you have verified on the invoice, not the method an SEO article assumes.
What is an SBP freelancer account?
The State Bank of Pakistan's freelancer-account framework provides for a primary PKR account alongside an Exporters' Special Foreign Currency Account at authorised banks, with digital or in-person onboarding. The account is a banking and foreign-exchange arrangement; it does not replace an invoice. Ask your bank what documents, retention rules, charges, and current features apply to your case.
Does Inbill make an FBR-compliant electronic sales-tax invoice?
Not by itself. FBR describes electronic invoicing as structured, real-time integration for registered persons and says only a licensed integrator can configure that connection. Inbill creates commercial invoice PDFs and records; it is not an FBR licensed integrator and does not transmit sales-tax invoices to FBR. If you are sales-tax registered or your adviser says the mandate applies, use the required FBR-integrated system and treat this guide as workflow information, not tax advice.
A send-before-you-send checklist
- Match the client name and billing currency to the contract.
- Use a unique, sequential invoice number and an explicit due date.
- Describe deliverables so the client's accounts team can approve them.
- Verify every digit of the receiving account or payment link.
- State who bears transfer or intermediary-bank fees if the contract covers it.
- Save the sent PDF and record every full or partial receipt.
- Use an FBR-integrated provider where the law requires one.

Frequently asked
What is the best invoice software for freelancers in Pakistan?
Inbill is designed for a lightweight international-freelancer workflow: 47 invoice currencies, bank and Payoneer payment instructions, PDF and hosted-link sharing, and partial-payment tracking. The right choice still depends on whether you also need accounting or FBR electronic-invoicing integration.
Can a Pakistani freelancer send an invoice in USD?
Yes, when USD is the currency agreed with the client. Keep the amount due clearly in USD and use receiving instructions available to your own verified bank or payment account. Ask a bank or tax adviser how the proceeds and records apply to your circumstances.
Can I put Payoneer details on an invoice?
Yes, if the receiving option is active for your account. Payoneer also offers a Request a Payment flow for eligible users. Verify the currency, account details, fees, and payer options in your dashboard before sending.
Is Inbill an FBR licensed integrator?
No. Inbill creates commercial invoice records and PDFs but does not transmit electronic sales-tax invoices to FBR. Registered persons covered by FBR's mandate should use an approved integrated system and obtain professional advice.
